Germany Day 5
Hey this is Kyle live from the airport. We are officially coming back to America now and will board the airplane in about 45 minutes. Yesterday we went to a little town called Rothenburg. The town is famous for it's cuckoo clock. It is not a normal cuckoo clock though. Instead of a bird or figure that comes out and says "Cuckoo, Cuckoo" there is a huge wooden guy that dinks beer. Now there is a story behind it though. The town was captured by invaders during the Thirty Years War in the sixteenth century. But the ruler that captured them was embarrassed that he could not drink beer so he made a deal. He said that if anyone could drink 6 pints of beer then he would free the town. Sure enough the Burgermeister (mayor) did it and so the town made a cuckoo clock in his honor. (in the picture below the guy drinking beer is on the right)
.
.The coolest thing also happened to us yesterday! We ran into my mom's good friend from Calvert County, Laura Miller, while eating lunch in Rothensburg. We still cant belive it because the odds just dont match. Well wish us luck on our flight!

Day 3 pictures
Germany Day 4
Hey it's Kyle again. Well today was so cool. We woke up early and headed through the tip of Austria (next to Germany) to get to a different part of Germany. We then grabbed a few danishes to eat and then started hiking up a 2 kilometer hill to get to the Neuschwanstein Castle (pictured left). Inside the castle was really neat. We found out that Cinderella's Castle in Disney Land was modeled after this very castle.
In the throne room there was a painting on the ceiling of Jesus, his prophets, and his 12 appostles (shown left). The story of the throne is very interesting. The king only had the throne for 165 days. The reason for that is his psychiatrist told everybody that the king had mental illness and therefore he be banned. Later that year they both drowned on the same day and same place. The details are yet a mystery. My theory is the king got mad at the phsychiatrist for telling everyone and drowned him and then felt bad and drowned himself too. After we left the castle we drove around the town of Fuumer and then headed back to the resort. We went swimming, ate dinner (more German food, spaetzle, bratwurst, knockwurtst and more sauerkraut), my mom did our laundry (thanks mom!!), and then watched a little bit of TV. Well I'll try to update you tomorrow but we will be driving back up to the first hotel we had and the Wi-Fi doesnt always work there. So tomorrow we are driving back and Sunday we will try to catch a flight back to the good old U.S.A.!
Happy 4th of July!!!!!

Germany Day 3
Hey! Today was so fun! When we woke up we went to breakast and then watched a little TV. At about 1:00 (german time) we headed over to the alps to go hiking. right when you arrive there you are greeted with the spot where the 1936 Winter Olympics were held. We then walked a little and finally got to the fun part. We hiked up the Partnach Gorge and took many pictures. There was a very awsome view of a crystal clear river but it was kind of scary because the pathway was about a yard wide and it was about 50 feet fall into the rocky, fast, but still beautiful river. After that we drove back to our resort and swam in the hot tub for twenty minutes. Lastly we ran over to a German resteraunt were we had schnitzel and brachtwurst! And that wraps up our day. We will keep you updated tomorrow.

Germany Day 2
Hey guys! Sorry I didnt update you yesterday, our internet was down and we got in late. So yesterday we had fun. First when we woke up we packed up and headed to our new hotel in Garmisch! On the way we stopped at McDonalds! It was no normal McDonalds eather. It was probobly the best, cleanest, and most modern in the world. Then after driving for two hours we stopped in Augsburg! We ate German Pizza (which had tomatoes instead of pepperoni and there was basil too) but the best part was tring to order food with a German waiter (she spoke no English). We then drove two more hours to a small town called Peiting! It was very interesting because it is where our family originated. We saw the house/bookshop where my mom's great grandfather, Franz Feldmeir, lived. Then we finished off the day driving 30 killometers to our Resort in th Alps! Well sorry about not posting last night but at least i got it done. Make sure to comment. Check again tonight.

First Night
Well all I can say about the flight is "wow"! Instead of the normal Delta or Southwest Airlines we had a ''Special'' way of transportation. We got to ride in the cargo area of a C-17. I'll post pictures tomorrow because of some technical difficultes with the internet at the hotel we are at. On the bright side tomorrow is where the fun starts. We get to go to the Edelweiss Resort in Garmisch, Bavaria instead of the ''thing'' we are staying at tonight. And we also get to go see some castles! We will be sure to keep you posted tomorrow! Oh and be sure to leave comments!
